There Hasn’t Been Much Going On!!

Dialysis has pretty much just been going on . . . no big deal, from my point of view!!! Of course, ALL other patients have their own points of view.

One older lady in my bay recently had her second leg off and she is sad ... near tears when she comes to dialysis three times a week. Another “older” lady had a stroke, Easter, and she is slowly learning how to deal/cope with what she is now. The stroke has taken her ability to use her legs and she is more tired. She can still speak. I had a stroke a few years ago and I had no residual effects.

I go Monday to have this new graph (put in in March) worked on. The flow is 320 which is TOO LOW. So, they are going to photo it and see why the flow is as low as it is. It is past time to get this graph out of my neck. It’s been there since February. Equals, no showers!!!

I guess that is it for now.

any questions?
any statements?

thank you

 Wheelchair Tricks Of The Trade

<>

I finally figured out that it is easier to work on moving from an electric chair than a regular one ... it is easier to move that joy stick than it is to move the chair w/ my left leg and my right hand pushing the wheel . . .

any questions?
any statements?

thank you

 A While Back . . .

I said something about writing about Home Hemodialysis . . . So, here it is:

Those dialysis patients who wish to start doing their dialysis at home need to talk with their doctors and the nurses who teach homehemo at the clinic and they will put the patient on a list and let them know when to be ready to start.

Then the patient will start five to six weeks of training in the clinic with a Home Training nurse assigned to them. This is called Nightly Home Hemodialysis (referred to as NHHD). NHHD is a slow, gentle dialysis which patients perform five or six nights a week for six to nine hours while sleeping.

These patients do really well on home-hemodialysis: they take fewer drugs, they can eat almost anything they want. Their HT stands by the phone at the nurse’s home incase anything goes wrong.

It is hoped that the patient has a partner to help them get ready at home and to watch out for bells and whistles. But, some are allowed to do homehemo by themselves.

This is quite short and simple. If you have any questions, please do ask ... what I don’t know, I will try to guide you to.

Any questions?

Half The Month Is Over Already!!!

Otherwise known as Ramblings!!

I don’t really have much to say ... these days I’m packing to move and waiting for my place of choice to have a wheelchair apartment. And I am trying to get rid of LOTS of Odds and Ends ... having yard sales.

If you have moved before, you will understand how “things” just keep on “reproducing” while you are trying to pack!! Moving is at THE top of my hate list. The several times I have thought I was going to have to move, the first thing I do, in a panic, is call a couple of friends so they can reasure me that they will help and all will be ok!!!! Isn’t that nice of them?!!!

As the years have gone by, things, in general, have been harder and harder for me to handle. I passed being “overwhelmed” about seven years ago ... I just can’t handle but so much anymore and I pray that things just go along easily. If you haven’t been an ill person, you may not understand that. If you have been an ill person, you will. And, it might be nice that someone else recognizes the truth of your truth. !!?

There is a young man who comes to “help.” I call it “hanging out” w/ some help!!! He doesn’t quite understand that I have almost no energy on a regular basis ... he’s 18!!! What should I expect!!! [I didn’t have children for a reason!!! {several reasons!!!}]

It is hard to gather things and go from one room to another, being in a wheelchair. It’s harder to stand up to get something at a height. I’m looking for wheelchair tricks of the trade!!! Anybody got any?!!

Again, I am at a point of beginning to do the paper work for getting my teeth fixed. Apparently the Free Clinic does have the ability to get somewhere toward getting my teeth pulled and new teeth. We are still playing the Wait and See Game . . .

AND, I am on my last day sticking my new graph while my catheter is still in my neck. That means: next week my catheter comes out! and that means: I can, finally, take a shower!!!!! I’m going to spend the whole afernoon playing in the water!!

Can’t think of anything else related to dialysis/medical life.

Hope you are well.

Any questions?
